Not sure if this is android or pixel specific issue, but though I would ask here to see if there was anyone else who had come across this and knew how to fix. Since last night my main gmail account isn't loading, it's stuck on "Getting your messages", despite uninstalling and reinstalling the app changing passwords in case it is a security-related issue etc. I’d really like to switch to iCloud email (whatever it’s called… sorry) but the thought of changing email address just doesn’t appeal.I have about 5 gmail accounts logged into my gmail app on a Samsung A51 phone (in case that info is relevant). Yes, you can add plugins to Gmail (and to your browser) that allow others to read your mail.I switched from Android to IPhone about 5 years ago, have moved everything over except for email, I still use Gmail including using the Gmail app. Gmail is quite secure - it is encrypted as it gets to you, accounts can have 2FA, and it's relied upon by very large businesses and government for use. Tap the three horizontal bars on the top left of the app, then tap 'Settings'. The app should now open without a problem. Turn off WiFi on your Fire, then open Gmail. Uninstall the Play Store and Gmail, reinstall the Play Store, reinstall Gmail, open the app. I have a personal email address from an indie system that I use for bills and such.Clear the Gmail cache, then reinstall the program, reboot the Fire, and open the app. I'm not sure I'm much better off with AOL and Yahoo, though. No, I don't use GMail, but this doesn't make much difference, because the majority of my contacts use it. Can archive AND delete (just like on gmail, and synced) Synced with actual gmail accounts (i use Gmail on desktop and it's ok for me) Possibly, can archive/delete by swiping (like gmail) Gather mails as thread (like gmail) Can link multiple Gmail accounts and switch from one to. I've checked my logins, I've checked with Microsoft Support. Then, I get a little textbubble with "unable to authenticate". It always looks like it did what it should. So I removed the non-syncing account, went through the process of entering credentials and 2fa, selected don't ask again, and get returned to the settings menu. Samsung might have a similar feature u/ivanmat_, there is an un-documented google/gmail workaround still active to this date that allows you to achieve Push notifications with iOS's native Mail app and Google-email (gmail). There are numerous places where you can stop the phone doing that, but everytime an update gets pushed out, Gmail stops getting push notifications again until I disable the power management for that app. It happens because the phone aggressively shuts down apps running in the background. UPDATE 18.02: Seems to be fixed with latest Gmail app update (24) It’s frustrating. UPDATE: keeping Google Calendar opened in background fix issue with sync and notifications.
